Itxaso Muñoz Aldalur

Computational physicist, curious by training

I'm a physicist specializing in computational modelling of magnetic nanostructures. I recently finished my Master's in Atomistic and Multiscale Computational Modelling at the Universitat de Barcelona, following a Physics degree focused on nanomagnetism and simulation. My thesis on chiral magnetic nanotubes, supervised by Prof. Òscar Iglesias, was presented as a poster at ICFPM 2025 (Bariloche) and as an oral talk at INTERMAG 2026 (Manchester), one of the largest magnetism conferences worldwide.

I also spent a summer at CIC biomaGUNE, working with the MRI Lab team on an MRI analysis pipeline. I'm passionate about how simple physical rules produce complex material behavior, and I'm now looking for research or industry roles applying simulation and computational methods to hard problems, in computational physics, materials science, or scientific software.

Magnetic Ordering in Chiral Nanotubes with Competing Interactions

Itxaso Muñoz-Aldalur, Òscar Iglesias Clotas — Dept. Física de la Matèria Condensada, Universitat de Barcelona

This poster presents Monte Carlo simulations (classical 3D Heisenberg model) of single-wall magnetic nanotubes with competing exchange and dipolar interactions. By folding planar spin lattices at different chiral angles, we reveal a rich variety of stable magnetic states, uniform, vortex-like and helical configurations, depending on tube geometry, chirality and the exchange-to-dipolar ratio γ = g/J. Adding radial anisotropy further stabilizes radial and mixed magnetization textures, offering design insight for functional magnetic nanostructures. Presented at ICFPM 2025 (Bariloche) and as an oral talk at INTERMAG 2026 (Manchester).
